Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2025
Summary: The extension keeps parental settings and browsing activity logs on the device by default. Data is sent to our servers only for Premium license validation (HTTPS) and, if you turn it on, the optional parent remote monitor. If you enable it, activity may also be sent to Qustodio under your account. We do not sell browsing data or use it for advertising.
1. Who we are
Chrome Parental Control is published by Rondanini Publishing™.
This policy covers the Chromium browser extension (Chrome Web Store) and related pages on
https://chromeparental.berta.one (for example purchase, support, and optional parent tools).
2. Data processed on the child’s device (local)
The extension uses chrome.storage.local to store information needed for parental controls, including:
- Blocked and allowed site lists, schedule settings, daily and per-site time limits
- An activity log: site hostname/URL, timestamp, and whether access was allowed or blocked (for parental review in the admin UI)
- Time-tracking aggregates (e.g. minutes used per day or per site)
- Parent/admin password hash (not the plain password)
- Premium license key after you enter it (stored locally after validation)
- Optional remote monitor token if you paste one from our parent-monitor page (used only to authorize uploads you request)
- Optional Qustodio API credentials if you enable sync (stored locally in your config)
This local data is used only to enforce rules you configure and to show you reports inside the extension.
3. Data sent to our servers (chromeparental.berta.one)
The extension may contact our HTTPS APIs in these cases:
-
Premium license validation — When you activate or refresh Premium status, the extension sends a request to
https://chromeparental.berta.one/api/validate-license containing at least your license key and
extension identifier so we can confirm the subscription is active. We do not require the child’s name or email inside the extension for this call.
-
Optional parent remote monitor — If you save a monitoring token from
parent-monitor.html, the extension may periodically send recent activity log entries
(same type of data as stored locally: site/URL, time, allowed/blocked) to
https://chromeparental.berta.one/api/monitor-ingest so a parent can view them on another device.
Nothing is uploaded until you set the token; remove the token in extension options to stop uploads.
We use this information only to operate the parental-control product (license status and optional monitor you requested). We do not sell this data.
4. Data sent to other services you choose
-
Qustodio (optional): If you enable Qustodio sync in the admin panel and provide your Qustodio API credentials,
the extension may send activity summaries to Qustodio’s API under your account.
Qustodio’s privacy policy governs their handling of that data.
-
Stripe (website only): Purchases and subscriptions for Premium are completed on our website via Stripe.
Card details are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
-
Email delivery: After purchase, license and receipt emails may be sent through our email provider (e.g. Brevo) using the address you gave at checkout.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal or browsing data to data brokers.
- We do not use the extension to show ads or build advertising profiles.
- We do not collect the child’s name, email, or contact details inside the extension; any checkout data you provide is collected on the website for billing and support.
6. Legal basis and Chrome Web Store alignment
Processing of URLs and timestamps is necessary for the single stated purpose of the extension: parental monitoring and control configured by the parent.
If you use Chrome Web Store data-disclosure checkboxes, this policy corresponds to: web history–like information and user activity processed locally and,
when you enable optional features, transmitted as described above; authentication-related data includes the Premium license key sent for validation.
7. Children’s privacy
The product is intended for use by a parent or guardian on a device they manage.
The parent decides what is logged and whether optional uploads or Qustodio sync are enabled.
We do not knowingly use the extension to market to children or to collect children’s contact details through the extension itself.
8. Retention and your controls
- You can clear or reset data from the extension admin options where the UI allows.
- Removing the remote monitor token stops new uploads to our monitor service.
- Disabling Qustodio sync stops new sends to Qustodio.
- For data held on our servers (e.g. license records, optional monitor feed tied to a token), contact us to ask about correction or deletion where applicable.
9. Security
- HTTPS for all extension calls to our APIs.
- Admin password stored as a hash on the device.
- No remote code execution: extension logic is bundled in the package; network responses are not executed as script.
10. International transfers
Our servers and subprocessors may be located in the UK, EEA, or other regions depending on hosting.
By using online features you acknowledge that necessary data may be processed in those locations to provide the service.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
Material changes to how data is collected will be reflected here before or when they take effect.
